The Commission develops five-year Park and Recreation Master Plans which focus on maintaining existing recreational facilities and identifying future recreational priorities of the park boards using Department of Natural Resources guidelines. Progress to increase recreational opportunities for the residential enjoyment is evaluated in the planning process. The Commission assists Park Boards in preparing Land and Water Conservation Fund and Recreational Trails Program applications to develop the identified recreation needs. The Park Plan is a prerequisite to qualify for Land and Water Conservation Funding.
